Verruca’s commonly occur on the soles of our feet and are caused by the Human Papilloma Virus (HPV), which is contagious through direct person-to-person contact.

They can cause significant discomfort and pain for the sufferer and though they can often resolve on their own, sometimes time and over the counter remedies fail to work leaving patients stumped.

At Goyette Foot Clinic we offer a treatment known as needling to successfully treat your verruca’s and David has many years’ experience dealing with particular stubborn variations.

  • Needling requires a local anaesthetic to numb the area of the verruca. The foot is then cleaned with antiseptic and a sterile needle is used to puncture the verruca numerous times.

The idea behind this is to wake up your immune system to the fact that you have a viral infection in the skin layers. Pushing some of the viral matter into the dermis stimulates this immune response. There is no evidence that suggests using this technique can spread the virus further.

  • Recent studies have shown that dry needling has a high success rate of around 70%. Though as with all treatments results cannot be guaranteed.
